Polly Pekapeka visits Cade

October 19, 2022 Posted by Kiwi Conservation Club

Polly Pekapeka (our Manu | Bird of the Year 2021) is looking for adventure, so she’s off visiting KCCers around Aotearoa – and beyond. Follow all her adventures out and about in nature HERE.

In October 2022, Polly went to stay with Cade (age 7) in Auckland. Here’s what they got up to together…

Kia ora everyone, I was so excited to have Polly Pekapeka come to stay during the school holidays! Our first stop after having a milkshake made by my sister was Gravity. I wanted to show Polly Pekapeka how I could fly on the tramps.

The sun came out so we could go to the park near my house.

Polly Pekapeka asked if I could take her to the Pahurehure Inlet so I showed her the crabs in the sand.

Me and Polly Pekapeka climbed some trees with my brother. She flew me onto the higher branches just like she carried the kiwi in Pekakiwi.

We then went home and read Pekakiwi together.

I took Polly Pekapeka to school with me. I showed her to my teacher and my class. Mrs Watson, our librarian, found a cool video about bats that showed their wings hugging them. I also took Polly Pekapeka to my dance studio and told people there all about her.

Thank you for staying with us Polly Pekapeka. Have a fantastic time on your next adventures! Mā te wā!

Fantastic adventure Cade! We will have to read Pekakiwi again with Polly too.
