Polly Pekapeka visits Isobel

August 26, 2022 Posted by Kiwi Conservation Club

Polly Pekapeka (our Manu | Bird of the Year 2021) is looking for adventure, so she’s off visiting KCCers around Aotearoa – and beyond. Follow all her adventures out and about in nature HERE.

In August 2022, Polly went to stay with Isobel (age 9) in Lower Hutt. Here’s what they got up to together…

Polly Pekapeka came to stay with us on my 9th birthday!

Polly checked out our wētā hotel.

She thought the hotel guests looked very tasty, but was disappointed that there was Perspex protecting them.

Then I showed Polly our new treehouse. She thought it was a cosy home – just like the hollowed out trees she normally lives in.

I took Polly for a walk to see the native plantings beside Waiwhetū Stream.

She met some pūkeko…

… and some very friendly ducks!

I took Polly on my favourite swing.

We went for a walk up the Te Whiti Riser track. Polly was a bit tired, and asked if I would carry her.

We climbed really high!

Polly admired the view with me.

The next morning, Polly walked to school with me. I showed my classmates one of my KCC magazines and told them about Polly. Polly snuggled in my pocket all day.

Thanks for coming to stay with me, Polly. Have fun on your next adventure!

Great adventure Isobel!
