Polly visits Remi and Sidonie

Polly Pekapeka (our Manu | Bird of the Year 2021) is looking for adventure, so she’s off visiting KCCers around Aotearoa – and beyond. Follow all her adventures out and about in nature HERE.

In July 2022, Polly went to stay with Remi (age 6) and Sidonie (age 5) when they went to the Far North on holiday. Here’s what they got up to together…


Here are some photos and story about our holiday with Polly up north in Ahipara & Waipoua Ngahere. Our names are Remi (6 yrs old) and Sid (5 yrs old). 

We introduced Polly to the wild horses of Te Kohunga in Ahipara. The horses would run along the beach every day. It was so cool watching them.
Polly came on a horse trek with our family on Ninety-Mile Beach. 
We took Polly on lots of walks on the beach. This is Shipwreck Bay at sunset.
We went to Gum Diggers Park and showed Polly the kānuka wetlands ancient sand dunes. 
We saw green geckos that live in the wetlands there. 
On our way home to Auckland, we went on a walk to visit Tāne Mahuta in Waipoua Ngahere. He was massive! 
We also introduced Polly to Te Matua Ngahere. 

We loved Polly coming on holiday with us.
