Easter Camp

June 19, 2017 Posted by Kiwi Conservation Club

A story by Hannah (age 10) from KCC Hastings-Havelock North

At Easter camp on Friday I met up with my friend Hannah. At 7.30 pm everyone met in the dining room and Linda and Chris said what we will be doing for the weekend. We had a delicious lasagne for dinner, it was fabulous. Aunty Lyn, Kazu and I shared a room with a girl named CC and a boy named JJ. In the morning we got up and played puzzles, once it stopped raining we got to go outside for a bush walk. There were river rapids and we could hear beautiful birdsong. On Saturday night we went for a night walk and I spotted a weta! It was only 5cm long so still a baby. I was hoping to find some lizards That was so cool!  On Sunday we walked down the mountain to the info centre with statues of birds and stoats prowling, my favourite was the kereru and it’s eggs. On Sunday we performed a play and had an Easter egg hunt, yum! Easter camp was so fun, I can’t wait till next year.
