Wild Things 133
Safe to swim in? Cleaning up our waterways!
Our summer issue is all about fresh water – and who doesn’t love a cool kaukau (swim) on a hot summer’s day? Do you have stories of swimming in our lakes and rivers? What about the grownups that you know? What’s happening to our arawai (waterways) and is there anything we can do to help?
We learn about the creatures that depend on fresh water, and what we can do to make our rivers swimmable for all.
We have a skit from Sonny Kameta about Nanny Tuna, as she tries to make her way around all the obstacles to the Pacific Ocean to have her babies. Plus, we have a great experiment you can do at home to test the water quality around where you live.
Join KCC to learn more about our native animals and receive our fabulous quarterly magazine, Wild Things. As well as the magazine and the website, you’ll have the chance to enter cool competitions, go on great adventures, and more!
