Transition to Forest & Bird Youth

The Kiwi Conservation Club is just one step of your journey with Forest & Bird.

The next step is Forest & Bird Youth!

Forest & Bird Youth is a nationwide network of young people (aged 14-25) who are protecting and restoring Aotearoa’s wildlife and wild places. It is for Youth, by Youth – that means that it is the young people leading the network, running the activities and projects, talking to each other directly, and making decisions. They do this the support of our awesome Youth Network Support Coordinator based at National Office.

By harnessing their passion to create change, they are inspiring and involving young people to protect planet Earth and do their part to reverse the crisis facing nature in New Zealand. From organising tree plantings, trapping events, and beach clean ups, to creating social media campaigns, and writing to politicians on key issues they care about, Forest & Bird Youth is making a difference.

How KCC gets you get ready for the transition

Step 1: When you have turned 11 years old, we will send you a digital copy of Forest & Bird magazine for you to read on top of your printed Wild Things magazine. This will give you even more of an idea of what is happening in the wider Society.

Step 2: We are looking at ways to get older KCCers doing more child-led activities and projects, and doing stuff with Youth. Send us your ideas, and watch this space!

Step 2: Once you turn 14 years old, you are eligible to join Forest & Bird Youth. We’ll get in touch to offer you a 1 year complimentary Youth membership. Once the transition happens, the Forest & Bird Youth team will be in touch to get you connected with the network.
