Wild Things 150

Mountains: Mountains to the sea series

In the 2021 issues of Wild Things we go for an amazing journey through the different environments of Aotearoa. Follow some of our friends to the tippy tops of Aotearoa’s highest mountains, down through the forest and freshwater streams, all the way to the coast. We will meet some of the incredible animals and plants that call these places home and discover some fun activities to do along the way.

Look out for the poster in the centre of each magazine, collect all four and they will join together to form one giant poster by the end of the year!

    Highlights include:

Follow our friend Kea around this issue of Wild Things! Kea tells us the difference between a hill and a mountain, and how they are formed!

Ever wonder why the space between two mountains is sometimes curved and sometimes straight?

Learn the answer to Keir’s (age 9) question, “How many Kea are there now, and how has that changed since I’ve been alive?”

How many mountain peaks did you discover this summer? Check out our must-see mountains check list from our KCCers!
