Polly Pekapeka visits Archie

July 23, 2024 Posted by Kiwi Conservation Club

Polly Pekapeka (our KCC Mascot) is looking for adventure, so she’s off visiting KCCers around Aotearoa – and beyond. Follow all her adventures out and about in nature HERE.

In June 2024, Polly visited Archie (age 7) in Little River. Here’s what they got up to together…

From the moment she arrived, Polly was very well loved and looked after.

We had a lovely family get-away to Hanmer Springs where Polly helped Archie to celebrate his 7th birthday. She didn’t fancy going down the big slides at the pools but enjoyed going for walks through the woods.

When we got back to the Banks Peninsula, Archie and his big sister, Sophie, took Polly out with Black Cat Cruises in Akaroa, where she met the beautiful Hector’s Dolphins, fur seals and albatross.

Polly met some of Archie’s friends in our garden and helped with the garden bird survey.

She enjoyed a day out with some local kids, meeting white-flippered penguins, Banks Peninsula tree wētā and geckos at Pōhatu Flea Bay.

And finally, Polly joined Archie and Sophie in flapping their wings to the beats of the Madagascar Musical at the Isaac Theatre in Christchurch.

Our family had a fantastic time with Polly and look forwarding to hearing about her continuing adventures with the Kiwi Conservationists.
