Pop-up Pūteketeke

Make an awesome pop-up card featuring our Bird of the Century, the pūteketeke | Australasian crested grebe!

Step 1: Print off this picture of the pūteketeke A5 size and colour it in, or draw your own on an A5 piece of paper.

Step 2: When you’ve finished colouring, glue a A5 card backing to your picture. When dry, fold it like a greeting card.

Step 3: Cut a strip of paper for the crest.

Should be 4cm wide and as long as the width of a piece of A4

Step 4: Colour in the strip black on both sides

Step 5: Concertina fold the strip

Step 6: Put glue on both ends of the strip

Step 7: Push the strip all together and then stick one side down about here

Step 8: Carefully fold over the other side of the card over and push down, so that the strip gets stuck to the other side of the card too. Push down to secure it.

Step 9: Open it up to see your pūteketeke with a pop-up crest!
