The Great Kiwi Clean-Up

March 31, 2022 Posted by Kiwi Conservation Club

By Luka (age 11)

We went to Castlecliff Beach by Whanganui. Suddenly, a plastic bottle makes an appearance. Filling my bucket, I pick the junk of plastic up, then I walked further and spied plastic going hundreds of miles so I took action.   I sped like a Cheetah ZOOM! I got so much rubbish made of plastic. Mum said that plastic bags could go into the ocean putting our sea life at risk.  I thought of the whales and dolphins. She said, “Lucky you picked up that rubbish. Imagine a rubbish truck dumping plastic bags into the ocean – not good is it.”

My day at Castlecliff Beach being a tidy kiwi. It’s yucky work, but worth it!
