The Ōrongorongo river is healthy

January 16, 2024 Posted by Kiwi Conservation Club

By Alisa (age 6)

This summer, my family and I stayed overnight at a hut in the Remutaka Forest Park. There was the lovely  Ōrongorongo river nearby. We followed the tips from Wild Things magazine (issue 160) in the article “How healthy is your awa?” to test the health of the river. We found that the river was fine (nine green ticks out of twelve) but could be healthier. We had a nice refreshing swim in it afterwards!
