Polly Pekapeka visits Simone

May 5, 2024 Posted by Kiwi Conservation Club

Polly Pekapeka (our KCC Mascot) is looking for adventure, so she’s off visiting KCCers around Aotearoa – and beyond. Follow all her adventures out and about in nature HERE.

In April 2024, Polly visited Simone (age 12) in Tauranga. Here’s what they got up to together…

When Polly first arrived, I took her to see our animals. She went for a ride on one of our chickens, Chook-Chook. She had a great time riding round the overgrown vegetable garden.

Next, we went inside to watch a movie, Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End.

At six o’clock on Monday, She rode horses called Leo (the spotty one) and Rocky (the chestnut). Leo kept moving his head to try get her off but failed. On the other hand, Rocky was being very well behaved.

We went to a forest workday at Ōtanewainuku on the weekend. Sadly, Polly didn’t get to see other bats (but the volunteers said there were sightings of bats there). She had a fun day clearing the bait lines and also got her picture taken next to the bait line map.

from Simone.
