Polly Pekapeka visits Sanya and Tovia

May 14, 2024 Posted by Kiwi Conservation Club

Polly Pekapeka (our KCC Mascot) is looking for adventure, so she’s off visiting KCCers around Aotearoa – and beyond. Follow all her adventures out and about in nature HERE.

In May 2024, Polly visited Sanya (age 11) and Tovia (age 8) in Gisborne. Here’s what they got up to together…

Dear KCCers,

On my latest adventure, I visited Sanya and Tovia in sunny Gisborne.

We went out to see the old Tuahine lighthouse and look in the rock pools along the way. We found a cool sea star and went through an amazing sea cave! There were lots of pied shags | karuhiruhi roosting on the cliffs.

Then we went to Makorori Headland and walked around the trails there. We saw some kererū and tūī, and lots of native bush. We had great views of Te Moana-nui-a-Kiwa.

Lastly, we stopped by their school, Wainui Beach school where I learned they are a ‘Green-Gold’ enviro school.

XXX♥️ Polly Pekapeka

P.S. I got ice cream!
