Polly Pekapeka visits Marton School

May 14, 2024 Posted by Kiwi Conservation Club

Polly Pekapeka (our KCC Mascot) is looking for adventure, so she’s off visiting KCCers around Aotearoa – and beyond. Follow all her adventures out and about in nature HERE.

In Term 1, 2024, Polly Pekapeka visited Marton School. Here’s what they got up to together.

We were lucky to have a flying visit from Polly Pekepeka.  Polly enjoyed her time visiting every classroom teaching children about bats and other native animals. In return, the children helped her with her reading and writing.

Our School held a special Polly Pekapeka art competition resulting in many interesting entries. The children were surprised to learn Polly has lots of family flying around the countryside surrounding Marton.

Our next project is to build some bat habitat boxes to put up in the school’s native tree area.
