Polly Pekapeka visits Emma

October 31, 2022 Posted by Kiwi Conservation Club

Polly Pekapeka (our Manu | Bird of the Year 2021) is looking for adventure, so she’s off visiting KCCers around Aotearoa – and beyond. Follow all her adventures out and about in nature HERE.

In October 2022, Polly went to stay with Emma (age 9) in Motueka. Here’s what they got up to together…

Me and Polly Pekapeka went to Mārahau.

We went on a walk in the Abel Tasman National Park.  At the start of the walk, we went under a waharoa.  It tells the story of migration of a group of whānau to Mārahau.

The first part of the walk is across an estuary.  We saw inanga and crabs in the water.  We walked to a beach and played in a rock with a hole in it.  We saw a baby weka scratching about in the sand with it’s mum and dad.

I also took Polly Pekapeka to To Noninga Kumu | Motueka Public Library, where we looked at some artwork by Motueka Playcentre tamariki.

How lucky you are Emma to live near the Abel Tasman – cool adventure!
