Creek clean up

June 7, 2018 Posted by Kiwi Conservation Club

By Frankie (7) and Lucy (5)

We started off on a walk in the reserve near our house with our dog Sundae.  The creek had been high because of the rain.  Mum saw some rubbish and said, “We should pick up some rubbish for our KCC 30-things competition!” and ran home to get some rubbish bags.  I found a perfect stick behind a tree to use as a grabber that would grab the rubbish from the water.  I found 41 pieces of rubbish and my sister Lucy found lots too.  There was lots of plastic and cans, a water bottle, a round ball, crisp packets and newspaper.  We put all the rubbish in the bin.
