Use Your Voice: NZ Freshwater Standards
Freshwater quality in Aotearoa New Zealand is in a bad, bad way. Between 95% and 99% of our rivers in urban, pastoral, and exotic forest areas have water quality below recommended guidelines, 90% of our wetlands have been drained, and 76% of our native fish are threatened with, or at-risk of, extinction!
We need to put the wellbeing of nature first and continue to have really strong freshwater protections in our laws.
Help tell the Government to keep the existing freshwater protections from 2020, rather than making them weaker!
