Bee heroes

January 30, 2023 Posted by Kiwi Conservation Club

Esme (7) and Sadie (4) found a sick looking bee. We offered it a little water, but it did not want that. We tried to put a tiny bit of honey on a spoon and offered that. The bee ate loads and seemed much better afterwards.

We found out that a bee has a tongue called a proboscis that it uses to eat. You can see it poking out in our picture. They have antennae, head, thorax, abdomen, legs and stinger.

We found out that ‘bee’ is ‘pī’ in te reo Māori.
