Paora Pekapeka visits Eliza and Ryan

October 30, 2025 Posted by Kiwi Conservation Club

Paora Pekapeka (one of our KCC Mascots) is looking for adventure, so he’s off visiting KCCers around Aotearoa – and beyond. Follow all his adventures out and about in nature HERE.

In September 2025, Paora went to stay with Eliza and Ryan in Palmerston North. Here’s what they got up to together…

“Having Paora for the week was very fun. We went on lots of adventures. On Saturday we went on a big bike ride in Palmerston North to visit the urban eels. We fed the eels then biked to the Ahimate Pa which is now a lookout. After that we biked to He Ara Kotahi (A special bridge representing a karaka tree where the local Iwi Rangitane used to have whare).” We tried to take a video but it was really windy….

We also made a special fruit ice cream for Paora to try. Here’s our recipe for you to try:

1 banana – cut and pre frozen

1/4 cup of frozen blueberries

1/4 cup of frozen raspberries

Place fruit in a blender and mix until very small pieces

Add 2 – 3 tablespoons of milk, OR cream OR natural yoghurt and blend again until it is a smooth consistency.

Serve immediately.

Eliza also took Paora to try out roller skating and Ryan made a special place where Paora could sleep upside down.
