Stay on this 250-hectare award-winning bush block. Most of the block is protected with a QEII National Trust covenant and is recognised as a Key Native Ecosystem by the
Taranaki Regional Council.
It is home to rare birds including the spotless crake and the North Island fern bird. We plan to explore this regionally significant wetland with its rich
indigenous biodiversity during daylight hours, enjoy a pot-luck tea and then, weather permitting, star gaze using a hired portable telescope. The hut has limited sleeping
capacity with space available for tents.
