An event for children and their families to learn about bird capture and bird banding, on a species which is robust, and can handle being caught. We will be capturing, banding and learning all about the black-backed gulls that nest on the Wairau River bed, with local expert Mike Bell.
Suitable for all ages – but all must be prepared to do a lot of walking on the river bed. Non-members are welcome, but all children need to be accompanied by an adult, who is responsible for them.
Please bring: sun hat, sunscreen, water, food, sturdy footwear, insect repellent, allergy medication (for any known allergies), warm and wind-proof layers. The site is very exposed, so it could be very hot, or very cold, depending on the weather on the day.
Please register for the event. This will mean that we can contact you if the event is postponed or cancelled. To register, either click here, or email us at marlborough@kcc.org.nz.
To join this event, please bring an adult who is responsible for you!
