If you live in New Zealand, chances are you live less than 20 kilometres from either the sea, a river or a lake.

Many interesting fish and crustaceans make their homes in these habitats. Our freshwater crayfish (koura), eels, sharks and inanga are just some of the amazing creatures that lie beneath the surface.
